I'm considering purchasing a PS4 (....it might be so I can game and use the computer at the same time...)   Anyone have any experience or research regarding the matter who'd be willing to share info?

Easily the better of the two "Next-gen" consoles.

I'm not sure what experience you're looking for though

Hmmm....I'll check out steam mode.

I just like me some console play every now and then....plus no man's sky looks crazy

Xbox one has a great multimedia setup as well as they are becoming backwards compatible soon, and there are more games out of the two.
It is what it is

I have the One, And I'm quite disappointed. I mainly bought it because all my friends have it, but it seems to take forever to load anything for me at least. Join a party to talk to friends, wait 5 minutes before we can all connect to each other.

Yep, unfortunately this generation of "Next-Gen" consoles were outdated long before they were even released

In steam click on the controller in the top right of the screen (next to the X) add an HDMI cable and a TV and you have a console...

Wish I could...my computer has not successfully booted since a power outage a few days ago.   Won't get past the 'welcome' loading screen.   I'm not happy

I have an Xbox One, and I love it. Also, they One is getting an update to Windows 10 in November, so all the speed and usability issues will be solved.

Oh I was just thinking about the Windows 10 comment.

Windows 10 isn't some miracle project, nor is it much faster than Win8 at all.

The problems with the Xbox1 is hardware and firmware, not OS

I have seen the new Windows 10 on Xbox One and it is super fast, and very user friendly. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean the One is bad.

Correlation does not imply causation Zito.

It may be more user friendly, but there's no reason as to why it would improve performance. Other factors are at play there

If that's referring to me, you'd also be incorrect

I have no biased preference for any console or system, the fact is that Windows 10 doesn't provide much, if any performance boost over windows 8, and Xbox1 has a solid reputation for having issues. (As does PS4, I should mention; just not to such an extent)

Xbox One isn't running Windows 8 though, so even 8 probably would have been an improvement. There are probably other factors that made it faster, but I have seen the new OS for the One, and it is miles ahead of the old one.

_____ vs. Wii U
_____ vs. Wii
X-box vs. Gamecube
_____ vs. Gamecube
_____ vs. N64

etc.

Aaaaah the good old Playstation vs. Xbox can of worms. Which inevitably winds up with the " Screw both and get a pc " conclusion  ;D

These days I a almost couldn't agree more... hard to leave those Indiana Jones, Star Wars The Sith Lords, and Elder Srolls games, though. Also SpiderMan 2. but all of that is besides the point I think you are trying to make. Even today's half-way decent gaming desktops are better than the X-Box -- RIP Xbox Tom Clancy game I once had, among others.... good times, good times... -- oh, sorry. Lol. #nostalgia
