I can light fires in the main world, but I can't light a fire in the nether (or at least use flint and steel). In effect, I can't build portals in the nether. Is this intentional?

I shall have a look through the config files myself when i get a chance, must just be something to do with world guard or essentials

It is the same thing we had with the overworld, just with the Nether instead.

yeah but I am pretty sure i have again disabled it in the overworld due to the grief factor, just because fire does in fact spread at this stage until i have time to sit down and look at the config files

Just enable it in the plugin and as an op type:

"/gamerule doFireTick false" to stop fire spreading

It solves the fire spread problem, which I didn't know we had a problem with it. Although, it does not solve the nether fire problem, which I can't look into, as I don't have access to console or server files, etc.

No the idea is to enable fire in the config, then use the gamerule to prevent the potential griefing
