I have had a stick up my ass about teamspeak lately.
Usage is at an all time low (basic stats) and i don't know how to get more people to use the server. there is little to no ways to advertise a TS server.

I can downgrade the server to less slots and get more time until the next bill is due. I don't want to do this YET because we use to (almost) fill the server at least once a month.
So my fear is that if i downgrade the server it will fill up sometime next month but I don't want to waste community funds paying for unused slots.

I want to discuss this with you, the community to see what you think about the situation and how Claytonia should proceed.

A few points of discussion...NOT LIMITED TO THE BELOW QUESTIONS
How can we get more people on the server?
   advertising ideas?
do you know a clan that could use it?
Should we downgrade slots? if so when?
How can we make teasmpeak better so people use it more?
Why don't people use TS?

The one thing I've noticed is a large amount of people going to skype to chat, rather than teamspeak for some reason.

I have at least 10 people on the mc server that talk via skype that have never been on our TS.
I have no idea why, and reminding them does nothing to fix it

There's almost no reason to use Skype over TS

i installed teamspeak today and joined the server because of the event thing on steam i'm not extremely fond of it's layout but it's not bad i could see myself using it more often except for the fact i joined one of the channels and people seemed to be having fun playing some game i asked twice what game was being played so i could possibly join in however i never got a response i stayed in the channel about 10 minutes just doing nothing then left into a different channel by myself because there's no point in sitting there listening to a group of people play a game i play a little bit of CS:GO and think it'd be great to play that on the teamspeak but there isn't a channel for that yet and idk if many people on here play it much but on terms of getting more people to join the server i think the best method would just generally be word of mouth i've been trying to get more people from my skype to checkout the minecraft server and now that i have teamspeak will see if i can't get a few people to join on there

If you can't find a channel for your specific game, use the Game Lounge channels, that's what they're for.

But yes, there are plenty of people out there who refuse to talk to anyone outside of their little cliche', it's rather pathetic.

i think the word you're searching for is "clique" not cliche ;P but yeah i sat in game lounge 2 for a long time and noone joined oh well i'll try to be active on it

maybe there may be another way of finding out who is doing what, but I'm not sure what it'd be... surely not removing all but 1 or 2 game lounges in exchange for labeled ones, b/c that has proven to not exactly be an accurate way of telling who's doing what -- except maybe in the case of the Minceraft one. Maybe.

we tried that before but people used whatever room they wanted for whatever game they were playing at the time.
99 times out of 100 people use our TS to play games, all kinds of games, sometimes 3-5 different games a night. changing channels every time u change a game isn't convenient and ppl don't do it.
I don't care what people are using the TS for (so long as it's legal) as long as they use it.
if you know someone who could use a free/public TS server send them our way!!

Clay,

Just wanted to say thanks man. I'm not on the TS server very often but I have a few friends that always want to fumble around with steam voice chat and that drives me nuts. I've brought them all over to the Claytonia TS server a few times and it's fixed our chat issues every time. Now if I could just get them to join the community..... Anyway, I really appreciate the fact that it's there and that you're so cool about letting everyone use it. Let me know if you come up with a good way to promote it that I can help out with. Thanks!

Clay

Thanks for the kind words!
Let your friends know they are welcome to use the TS anytime they need it

I will try do my best, but, since a recent incident, I may not be able to do so quite as well as I would like. That will not stop me from trying doing what I can and where I can, however.
