Title: New Teamspeak host
Post by: Clay on December 03, 2016, 04:01:09 AM
We are switching Teamspeak hosts. I will be redirecting voice.claytonia.net to the new server in the next week(ish) however, the company we use now will not allow me to export any of the settings or permissions from our current Teamspeak server. Everyone will need to give themselves permissions on the new server. Sometime in the new week you will connect to the server and have [Guest] next to your name. Right click on yourself and set server group to "User". Anyone who joins the server will be able to give themselves permissions for the first few months while everyone gets settled in (that means trolls too), because of this anyone in the User server group can create a passworded room. To protect yourself from the trolls that live on the internet I recommend setting up a, semi-permanent, passworded room for you and your friends.

TL;DR
New ts server coming soon.
R-click on yourself and set server group to user
make password protected room asap

After looking at Teamspeak stats. Sunday night and Monday are the days with the fewest people online and in an effort to allow dns to propagate. Im switching to the new server now.

So the other Ip besides Voice.Claytonia.net won't work right?

correct voice.claytonia.net now points everyone to the new IP
144.217.84.241
No one should have to update anything, just connect like you always did and give yourself perms.

Alright are we still going to have admins on ts? Or what's happening with that?

With poking being disabled and password protected channels now being available to everyone the ability to troll is greatly reduced so it kinda runs itself.
(I'm working on bots that will kick/ban offensive nicknames and delete channels with offensive names too.)
We have banned very few people in the last 6 so the need for admins online all the time has been greatly reduced even prior to the update.  With the previously mentions changes, our user base is protected more now than ever before.

That saddens me. It sucks not being able to connect to my channel directly on connection to the server now...

Why can't you connect directly into your channel?

Even if I enter the correct password when connecting it sets me in the welcome channel.
