So apparently the game really is as expansive as you'd imagine

You start off on a planet somewhere, and you need to gather materials to repair your ship for travel.
As you progress, you'll find new places, gather new materials, and upgrade your ship for faster & further travel.

Worth noting that the game can be quite grindy, and the planets can be somewhat familiar and repetitive.

Still a good game, but might not appeal to everyone

yea, that video kinda confirms everything I think it is going to be.

I have very little free time anymore and the time i have i want to play with friends not alone.
im going to hold off and wait for more professional reviews (ign, worthabuy, gamespot)

Keep in mind this game was designed for casual play, not for the marathon gamer.  Game play is slow paced but the ability to lift off of the planet and jump to a new system is worth the money on its own.

Space Exploration with crafting/gathering.

Technically MMO, although with 18 quintillion planets, it can be tough running into other real players.

Impossible to encounter other players*
The developer stated that it was possible but unlikely, but it was proven after release to be impossible when two players found the same planet and tried to meet up at a noticeable landmark.

I was mere hours from running into someone when I first played it.  I found a planet he found before me.

Its totally possible.

No Man's Sky is absolutely amazing after the last big update. Anyone picked it up again? Would be fun to group up and explore together if someone's interested.
