I have a ton of ideas for advertising this section of our forums. What needs to be done before I can actively advertise this to the public?

Really just a couple of things.  A page of unique skills and a page of sorcerer/wizard magic schools and spells well formatted so we don't have to rely on third party sites. 
Sustainability comes from small gestures. Don't let your comfort become waste.
