XCOM!!!!! game looks so slick its kinda board game like Civ 5 maybe because its made by the same dev. Currently there are two games one set during the 50's and one in the not so distant future and they are making I guess a third one; Enemys Within.
Downloading the demo right now for enemy unknown I guess it was a game off my radar until now.
Found this game from another cynical brit video if he gives a thumbs up to a game then ill most likely will look into.

► WTF Is... - XCOM: Enemy Unknown ?
Oh, you think darkness is your ally, but you merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it.

I read the Game Informer review on this awhile back. They had nothing but praise for it. I have wanted to play it for awhile non.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a turn-based tactical role-playing video game, developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. The game is a "reimagined" remake of the 1994 cult classic strategy game UFO: Enemy Unknown (also known as X-COM: UFO Defense). It was released on October 9, 2012 in North America and three days later in Europe and Australia for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. An "Elite Edition", containing all previously-released downloadable content, was released as a Mac OS X exclusive by Feral Interactive on April 25, 2013. A port for iOS was announced at a PAX East panel on March 23, 2013.
Set in the near future during an alien invasion of Earth, XCOM: Enemy Unknown puts the player in control of an elite multinational paramilitary organization called XCOM and tasked with defending the Earth. The player commands troops in the field in a series of turn-based tactical missions; between missions, the player directs the research and development of new technologies from recovered alien technology and captured prisoners, expands XCOM's base of operations, manages XCOM's finances, and monitors and responds to alien activity.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown was critically acclaimed, with averaged ratings of close to 90% for all versions at both GameRankings and Metacritic. Upon its release, it was often regarded as one of best titles in its genre. Several reviewers also commented on the game's very high levels of difficulty, replayability, and addictiveness. A number of publications, including GameSpy, GameTrailers and Giant Bomb, named it Game of the Year.
An expansion pack, Enemy Within which introduces about 40 new maps and some new mechanics, will be released 15 November 2013. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XCOM:_Enemy_Unknown)

So im playing Xcom can anyone explain how sattilites work like how many I need. I feel like panic growing everywhere and like im going to lose 1 or 2 countries is that normal :o ?
Oh, you think darkness is your ally, but you merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it.

Zito

Ok, so you need satellites. A lot of them. A region with a satellite will always have a lower panic level. Satellites also five you an eye in the sky. They will alert you when an alien craft is in the area, allowing you to send interceptors and, hopefully, shoot it down. The amount of satellites you need is really depending on the situation. You should try to balance it so that you can put up a satellite when panic is high. Tou also need to spend money on other research and equipment as well though. It is sometimes hard to find balance, but you should be able to get it. It just takes practice.

Alright thanks zito, guess i will practice and figure things out by trial and error, im guessing that shooting down ships is pretty rewarding probably carrying alot of alien tech.

Zito

Yeah, the ships generally give you a few flight systems and power sources each time, depending on the size of them. DOn't forget to upgrade your interceptors btw. They will lose if they don't have good weaponry.

Also getting use to combat is starting to help well used gnades and rockets took out headaches on missions. Also using cars only as temp cover

Zito

Yeah, cars will get you often, You need to watch for the fire on them. You usually need to get out of there as soon as you can when the car is on fire. I learned that one the hard way... Also, don't forget that using rockets and grenades will dash any hopes of recovering alien tech or corpses intact. You need to kill them with guns most of the time to get the corpses, weapons, etc.
