I figured posting here is like adding a record to the Library of Congress and it will be forever immortalized here!

Been playing Rimworld for years, mostly unmodded. Recently tried out the mod Rimworld Together along with several other great mods and love it. You basically share a world with other players and can kinda visit and trade with others (or kill them). Here ill post my experience on the server.

1. First screenshot and early raid. I play Cassandra/Strive to Survive. I like to go towards a mountain base. I have been on a huge Fallout obsession lately since a new show was announced and ive played countless hours of all the games. Therefore I made a new idealogy called "Vault-Tec" and tried to make it how vault tec would work. Its still a work in progress i think as at times I ask myself why the hell did I use that meme. I can elaborate further later. Vault 17 is our longest surviving as I have had a bunch of others fail playing on a extremely difficult setting.

2. I like to use the planner mode a lot as you can see. Started to map out what I want the vault layout to look like and most of the design comes to fruition. Early on I tried to take as many colonists as possible but didn't really think ahead as other conflicting memes become a pain in the ass later...

3. About a year in and no colonist deaths. The raids start to amp up as the AI sees my precious value climb. I do like the struggle in this game as it gets boring with apathy. Solar power was regrettably my greatest wattage for awhile. The vault is starting to expand as my food supply increases and I have more skilled mine workers. A good time before tragedy as is the way of life on the rimworld.

4. I hardly played the Biotech expansion but wanted to try raising colonists. I figured it worked like the Sims game but boy was I gravely wrong. My colonists Strapping and Lenka hook up and I wanted them to go for the goal as parents. I failed to realize Lenka was an older age which lowers factors of birth. So goes this game...

5. Little Malikova died only about 20ish days old. I still don't understand the sickness mechanic from when they are born but that crap sucks. Sadly I changed a meme in the idealogy for vault dwellers to ignore death so no one cared the infant died. I sure did. Only one colonist had a negative mood from her dying, a old pig lady.20240122044639_1.jpg

6. Old pig lady died at some point. Year 2 ill lose a few colonists to plague, raids and a murderous rampaging vault dweller. Maybe I should settle the matter as what the experiment vault tec had going for these poor souls from the way I have been running things. A lot of my initial layout has been realized. I have lots of animals.

7. Had this old geezer named Dan be bed ridden for what felt like centuries due to being old and an addict. I did the first surgery in the vault on him by making a heart in a cave from a bucket of scraps. If you get the reference, bonus points to you. Soon I would be at peak vault dweller population.

8. A few raids tested my defensive tactics to its limits having lost my best researcher, Azling. As you can see in the centermost defensive line I reformed the firing walls and barricades that would prove to be more effective in future raids. Why not deploy mortar tech you say? Shit component management.

9. Whatever experiment vault tec was running here at Vault 17 it sure wasn't signing up the best "social" dwellers from post-war rimworld. Forgot to mention Renny was the first child dweller saved from a few tactless raiders she escaped from. I set myself a goal to see it she be the second Vault Overseer as for now the first is Lenka, previously a mother...

10. WHO TF SENT A GOOD BOY RAID?!!

I reached my picture limits in this first post. Honestly im a nincompoop at how these work after all these years but ill keep this updated best I can. Find out next post how I lost colonists by the weeks and one normal dweller challenge a huge furry/yeti dweller to a fight to the death and found out the hard way life in the vault isn't fair.

11. Shield was a good boy dweller who was dating Renny but F'd around and found out going a murder spree and chose a dweller significantly, genetically, statistically, reasonably, and by fate a dweller who is built different. OF ALL PEOPLE TO PICK TO MURDER. So hes out along with I think 3 others to stuff. The most bullshit death was Lenka, the first Vault Overseer. Her rhetoric skills were supreme and she carried the others forever. She got clapped by the plague at a 98% immunity... 98%. I actually did consider restarting but momma raised no bitch in this house hold. I remembered apart of the experience in this story is the story and the following struggles. In light of the fallout games, the rimworld never changes. I stuck it through and will see if I can find a worthy successor of overseer.

12. Had the resident vault cat die to a warg. The warg made a nice hat. Further expansion is done in the vault but made easier thanks to the slave workers. Food is becoming an issue however but a hydroponics is being built.20240201115029_1.jpg

Final Update
Its been a fun ride with Vault 17! However I have decided to sunset Vault 17. This was my first long run with mods and I learned a lot from the rookie mistakes I made. Therefore I am creating a new Vault in the wastes of the rim. This vault's story will remain here until the internet fades away. I most certainly create a new thread for the vault with more pictures and details.

Favorite memories:
-Making one of my OG pawns nearly a cyborg
-Furthest advancement in any colony I've played
-Saving a child colonists from raiders for her to grow up to be the next Overseer, Lenny.

Sad memories:
-Two wild people crept onto my map and before a cold snap I saved one of them, Lenka. She had the best social and became the first Overseer! I tried my cards in raising a newborn and it ended up dying. Hope in the next colony I can raise one successfully!
-Many other colonists that died too soon

I will dump all the extra photos not posted here!

Final photo is a party. It was unforgettable  ;D
Farewell V17.
